Suitability Criteria

The suitability criteria contain the requirement you will need for a suitable ICT skill assessment for migration purpose:

1: ICT Major: A Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree must have at least 50% ICT content

                            A Bachelor Degree must have 33% ICT content for a three year course

                            A Bachelor Degree must have 25% ICT content for a four year course

2: ICT Minor: A Bachelor or higher qualification is assessed as a Minor when the ICT content is at least two thirds of the requirement for a major.

ANZSCO ICT Content: In all educational qualification, 65% of the ICT content must be closely related to the nominated occupation (ANZSCO) to meet the suitability criteria.

Work experience for skill assessment:

2 years of work experience will be used to satisfy the suitability criteria for skill assessment and doesn’t include as “skilled employment” and is not eligible for points under the skilled migration points test.

All relevant work experience completed after the Skill Level Requirement Met Date will be considered Skilled Employment and eligible for points under the skilled migration points test.

Work experience completed before the completion date of your qualification is also considered for suitability criteria for skill assessment. However, the Skill Level Requirement Met Date will be determined by the earliest date that both the relevant work experience and the qualification are completed.

Required Documents:

  • Biographical page of passport or Birth Certificate
  • Degree or Award Certificate
  • Degree or Award transcript (the unit or course names and grades or marks obtained should be in the transcript you provide)
  • Degree or Award transcript (Unit or Subject Names and Grades or Marks Achieved)
  • Employment Reference (including supporting documents like payslip, tax paper etc.)
  • Certified copy of your marriage certificate if you have been married and your name has changed

All documents must be certified copies of original and uploaded as PDF files.

Other Useful Information:
  • Application Fee for Skills general application: $500
  • Due to the complex nature of the assessment process, the assessing authority cannot advise if your degree course or work experience will be suitable after a full skill assessment has been completed.
  • Applications need to be decision ready in order to be assessed, which means that all the documentation needs to be complete on submission. Skills assessment completion time is approximately 12 weeks.
